Alistair began his carpentry apprenticeship at Foster Construction at age 17, advancing rapidly to become one of their youngest commercial site foremen. Over the next two decades, he directed some of the Waikato’s most recognizable multi-million-dollar commercial, civic, and infrastructure projects.

Why Commercial Precision Matters for Your Home

Commercial construction permits zero room for guesswork. Sites operate strictly to written schedules, transparent line-by-line budgets, scheduled council milestone sign-offs, and disciplined trades who arrive on time.

We run every residential build with that exact operational discipline:

• A fully itemised, transparent quote before ground is broken.

• A standard New Zealand building contract with zero ambiguity.

• Absolute price protection: zero extra charges without your prior written agreement.

• Scheduled progress updates (daily or weekly, matched to your schedule) accompanied by high-resolution site photography.

Why I Started A-Mac Projects and A-Mac Building:

“After 25 years running major commercial sites across the Waikato, I saw too many homeowners let down by vague quotes, constant budget creep, and disappearing builders. I founded A-Mac Projects and A-Mac Building to bring commercial-grade scheduling, cost certainty, and single-point accountability to residential building—giving local families complete peace of mind from day one.”
