Privacy Policy

A-Mac Building, part of A-Mac Projects Ltd ("we", "us") builds and renovates homes and buildings across Hamilton and the Waikato. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, why we collect it, and how we look after it. It follows the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020

What we collect

When you fill in our contact form, book a callback or use one of our estimators, we collect:

• your name, phone number and email address

• your property address or suburb

• the details you give us about your project, including your estimator answers and the estimate shown to you

• the time you'd like us to call, if you book a callback

Like most websites, ours also uses cookies to record basic technical information, such as your browser, the pages you visit and your approximate location

You don't have to give us your details, and you can use our estimators without them. If you leave out your phone number and email, we can't reply to your enquiry or prepare a quote

Sometimes we get your details from someone else, such as a person who recommends us or a subcontractor on your project. When we do, we'll let you know, unless you already know or the Privacy Act says we don't have to

Why we collect it

We use your information to:

• reply to your enquiry and arrange a call and site visit

• prepare your quote and carry out your project

• keep the records we need for building consent, warranty and tax purposes

• understand how people use our website, so we can improve it and measure our advertising​

We don't sell your information, and we don't send you marketing you haven't asked for

Who sees it

​

Your enquiry goes straight to Alistair, who runs A-Mac Building. The only other person with access is our website administrator, who looks after the site. We share your details with subcontractors, suppliers or the council only when your project needs it, for example for a building consent

Where it's stored

​

Our website runs on Wix. Wix stores form submissions on secure servers, which may be outside New Zealand

We keep your information secure and only let people see it when they need to. If a privacy breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we'll tell you and the Privacy Commissioner as soon as we can, as the Privacy Act requires

Cookies and advertising

Our website uses cookies to work properly and to show us how it's used. When we advertise on Google, Facebook, Instagram or TikTok, we use their measurement tools (such as Google Analytics, the Meta Pixel and the TikTok Pixel) to see which ads lead to enquiries. These tools may use cookies to show you our ads on other websites. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and our site will still work

When you first visit, our cookie banner asks whether we may use analytics and marketing cookies. These cookies are only set if you accept, and you can change your choice at any time with the Cookie settings link at the bottom of each page

When the Meta Pixel is running, Meta may also receive a scrambled (hashed) copy of the email address and phone number you give in an enquiry, so it can tell which ads led to it. Meta and Google are overseas companies and may not have to protect your information in the same way New Zealand law does

How long we keep it

If we work together, we keep your details for as long as building and tax records must be kept. If your enquiry doesn't go ahead, we delete your details after two years

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it. Email info@amacprojects.co.nz or call 027 256 7522. We'll reply within 20 working days, as the Privacy Act requires. If you're not happy with how we've handled your information, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
